Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

All found by the south gate onto the canal section. Looking well and moving away from the gate.

    Monday, 23 August 2021

     Monday 23 August

None seen. They must be hiding in the dense undergrowth.

A hammock has been installed at the bottom end of the corral, i.e. the canal end. Is this permitted? Will it be a nuisance to the cattle?

    Sunday 22nd August

Found all 3 very quickly today as near the gate, (D6, about 11.00am/ W3W: skewed.markets.headrest).

All looked very clean, in good shape and busy eating grass.

    Saturday

Found all three at the middle gate on the path from the Gelvert stream. All looking very clean and healthy.

Teasel calmly grazing on the fresh grass but the boys mucking about head butting each other.

Saw the three today lying down chewing the cud

    Monday 9th August

As I'm new to Pondtail I walked the perimeter today which was just as well as I found a gate open enough for escapees! (about E4). Located trough around C5 but as I was on the wrong side of the fence I can't say what state it was in, but as it has been a wet weekend there was plenty of standing water around so I think they'll be ok.

All 3 located in D4 at 10.50am thoroughly enjoying the grass, gorse and leaves from small trees. All looked fine, and clean from showering several times at the weekend.💦

    Friday, 6 August 2021

All seen by the Gelvert stream gate.

    Wednesday, 4 August 2021

    Wednesday 4th august

All 3 found us while we were repairing the fence line, I think they approved. I completely forgot to get the numbers but 1 has a bloody/weepy eye that the flies were irritating (pic1), the other had a small cut on the f
right rear of the flank but seemed happy enough and looks like it’s healing (pic2). Trough good.

    Supersleuth!

Only discovered the threesome had been moved to Pondtail after inspecting the trough at Bramshot Heath this morning - that'll teach me to read the blog before I leave home!😂 (Usually do).

After checking with Ciara I took an educated guess and drove around to Pondtail Road where I could see there was access. Massive stroke of luck as I found them within minutes! All looked fine although possibly rather surprised to see me there; as much as I was surprised to see them. Found around 11.15am and took a screenshot of their position to help subsequent lookers.

    Cattle info

Hi guys, sorry for the lack of advance warning that the cattle were being moved! I only found out this morning. Well done for noticing so swiftly and resuming looking! I believe the cattle are on the northern part of the reserve, please correct me if I'm mistaken. I'm not sure how long they are here for, so as usual please regularly check the blog before you head out for any updates. They will probably be moved with very little warning as usual.

     Sunday 1st August

    All seen, look well.

    Saturday 31st

Saw all three from footpath. looked quite happy munching on lush vegetation. Not so accessible as Bramshott so will change walks to go through Pondtail fields.
