Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

     SATURDAY 31st DECEMBER

Needed full waterproofs this morning. All 4 found in the gorse alongside the boundary fence next to the Gelvert Stream: the left-hand edge of Square F8 on the “Lookers Map” (link on the right of this page).

All standing, chewing their cud and looking ok if a bit bedraggled.

     Sunday 18th December

All 4 in the usual South-East Corner. Looking wet and miserable but upright and eating. They don’t seem to want to move far from this corner even though there looks like better grazing elsewhere.

    Saturday, 17 December 2022

     Saturday 17th December

All 4 cattle grazing in the grassy area with the poplars, a little to the south of the main gate. A woodcock flew up which is quite a rare sight nowadays.

Monday 12th December - Stream inlet location

    Hi All,

Just popped over today to confirm there is no trough water access in the feild the cows are currently in. There's a inlet to the stream which is still flowing, this will continue to flow even in on our coldest days! ///cried.shoving.unscathed

Just a what 3 words to keep an eye on it.

    Monday 12 December

All well, grazing back in the south east corner. I walked along the canal path and noticed several large tree limbs pressing on the fence...just the two barbed strands so not an escape issue. WTW heartburn.frame.grandson....giggled grin nerves and two trees with an alarming looking lea that i havent noticed before at WTW registers.splendid.rival. Ill try to add pics...didnt manage pics but i can emeil if you want them.

    Sunday, 11 December 2022

    Sunday 11

Seen in passing around 9 am by the gate into the other enclosure...looking a bit fluffier!

     Sunday 11th Dec

All 4 Cattle in the SE corner where they don't seem to have moved from in the past 4 days. I think they like it as it's dry there. Eating but, not surprisingly, looking a bit miserable.

    Thurs 8th Dec

Very pretty in the field this morning but no sign of the cows, maybe keeping warm somewhere. Had a good scout around but no luck today.

    Wednesday, 7 December 2022

All 4 cattle found in Southeast corner where stream meets canal grazing happily and in good health.

    Monday, 5 December 2022

    Monday 5 December

All well, cudding and standing around in the centre of the enclosure.

    Sunday, 4 December 2022

All 4 cattle ok. Hard to find though - right next to the canal at the Pondtail Bridge end. It would have been easier to walk along the towpath from Sainsburys and then down the path to the Scout-hut at the end of Farnahm road.
